Atoosa Rubenstein chose Jennifer Steele (Jen) as the winner of MTV’s Miss Seventeen. Look at this picture (and that ain’t even close to the worst of her) - WHY?? There’s all this BS about how the contest is looking for a role model - if they wanted a role model, why’d they pick the girl that cries every 2 seconds about her “story” and gets all flustered and worked up about EVERYTHING.
Atoosa writes, “There’s something about Jennifer that makes her so relatable on the surface. She’s a very down-to-earth, funny girl—like so many of our readers. Yet her experiences make her anything but ordinary.” Judging by the comments on Atoosa’s post, it looks like “Seventeen” readers don’t necessarily agree. I think Atoosa just fell so Jen’s sob story. Wah wah. Poor me.

First off, I thought the show was about being a role model and not mentioning the hardships in your life over and over. How are we supposed to get to know someone when all they talk about is that? I do agree with Brianne that Jen did appear fake. I do not know her obviously but just in the takes of the show I don’t believe anyone gossiped as much as she did. I bet she would be great writing the gossip columns in seventeen. I think that although Jessica did not speak as much she appeared more genuine. Honestly the only time Jen spoke was usually to gush her sad stories, have conflict with another girl, or gossip. I think without that she would have talked less than Jessica. That aside, I think anyone would be a better role model than this girl - she is the epitome of a fake cheerleader (and I was a cheerleader and am not using that stereotype). She can have her 15 mins of fame but I am REALLY disappointed that she won.

Hi, i am from Glassboro, NJ and even though i think Jen is a doll i think that throughout the show improved her self confidence and a voice. Which is why i think she should have one. Not being judgmental i think one of the only reasons Jen wanted to win is because she wanted to prove to her family she could get somewhere in her life. I am just stating my opinion.

Hay i agree Jen is a Baby i think the only reson why she won because people felt sorry for her. Jessica did the photo shots much beter it didnt look like jen did i think she could of used the in a porn mag! So that was mean that Jessica didnt win

I think that Jessica should have won, she did so much better in the photo shoot and she more of a role model, because Jen would always cry about everything and thst not really a role mode i find but whatever its not gonna be our faults if she totally screws up

I actually went to school with Jen and she is a great role model. She is one of the most genuine and personable people i have ever had a chance to know.shes outgoing,friendly, and absolutly deserved to win.

I quite liked Jen from the start.
She probably talked about it with the girls on the show, especially Jessica, because she felt as thought she couldn’t confide in anyone else.
I thought Atoosa was made a very wise decision :)
