Happy Birthday, MTV!
Obviously without MTV, this blog would not exist. So we wish MTV a very happy 25th birthday. Ironically enough, I turned 25 this year as well, confirming that I am totally part of the MTV generation.
So, in the spirit of things, I’m going to post my favorite MTV moment in the past 25 years. And then it’s your turn. Add your favorite MTV memories in the comments below.
My favorite MTV memory is actually more like an entire season - The Real World - New York. That’s right - the very first RW season ever. We saw for the first time “what happens when people stop being polite and start getting real.” We saw Eric and Julie flirt (and attend a hip hop dance class - a precursor to “The Grind?”). We saw fighting and hooking up and Norman’s brilliance. The Real World was an introduction in reality television. A groundbreaking, compelling new kind of television. And we’re still hooked.
