MTV Goes Hawaiian
August 27, 2006 by Shea Sylvia
Never short on reality show ideas (amazing, but true), MTV has two new shows on tap:
MTV is starting production on two new reality series in Hawaii this week.
Living Lahaina “features a group of friends who work as surf instructors at the Royal Hawaiian Surf Academy in Lahaina, Maui,” The Hollywood Reporter reports, while Island Fever “explores the lives and loves of a group of friends and lovers as they struggle to stay loyal in their relationships and find the answers to life’s bigger questions while dealing with the excitement of the revolving door of tourists who are looking for a good time.” That’s quite a melodramatic description.
Thanks to Reality Blurred for the scoop:
The Honolulu Star-Bulletin reports that the surf instructor show “include[s] an undisclosed mixture of Hawaii residents and people imported from the mainland,” while the other series includes a “cast [that] already lived on Maui, and most were born and raised there.”
MTV has ordered eight half-hour episodes of each show, and they’re scheduled to air early next year. The Star-Bulletin notes that “‘Living Lahaina’ started shooting on the Valley Isle yesterday, and ‘Island Fever’ begins filming next Friday.”

Yea they’re hardcase! Its only just started over here, didn’t realise how far behind be were over here. Like two years judging by the comments made on this blog. Looks like theres a bit of drama ahead!
My brother was living over there for a while pretty keen to call in and catch a few waves on my way to europe atfer seeing the show, Hawaii looks as beautiful as NZ and the Pacific.
this show is the best i love it forget those people who say crap about it if you make life fun then there will excitement like they did i love the boys especailly gator keep on surfing
I agree, I watched the episode when they went to Indo today, was soo Jealous!!Looked like soo much fun. It’s way more entertaining than watching mummys and Daddys kids in L.A strutting around worring about which designer to wear or whos got the latest BMW. These guys are living life. Their missions are sick!!
P.S I think it’s really disapointing that poeple are using this blog as a race war too.You all should be proud of your your mixed culture. I watch for the surfing missions and so I can see how beautiful Hawaii is, If you don’t appreciate white people from the other side of the world visitng this definately puts us off…plently of beautiful places around the world not just Lahaina..NZ & Auzzie Kick ass!!
