Meet Parisa from “The Real World: Sydney”

by Shea on August 2nd, 2007

ParisaSeason 19 of The Real World is just around the corner - the show premiers August 8 at 10 pm (9 Central).  Luckily for us, the cast -7 Americans who moved to Syndey, Australia to live in a house and find out what happens when people stop being polite and start being real - has been the subject of lots of interviews as the hype builds for the new season.

From the New York Daily News:

Long Island’s Parisa Montazaran knows the perception of MTV’s “The Real World” all too well.

“I knew it had been sensationalized about alcohol and sex,” says the New York University grad.

So, when she was cast for the new season, set in Sydney, Australia, she made it clear: “That’s not what I’m about.”

Montazaran, 21, is among the seven housemates who spent four months together this year for the the 19th edition of the reality show. She’s is also the first Muslim on “The Real World,” according to MTV.

The budding singer sort of stumbled into the show while attending what she thought was a sorority club meeting, which turned out to be a low-key casting session.

“I started raising my hand and being more vocal,” she says. “By the end of it, they asked me to stay after.”

She swears she wasn’t being talkative just to land the gig. But it worked.

“I realized a break would be really nice,” she says of her decision to go. “I thought, why not, it’s four months of rent I don’t have to pay in the city.”

Living with cameras is an exaggerated existence, she says.

“For me, it was very bizarre to be in an environment where it was partying, seven days a week,” she says. “It’s not normal for me.”

Anyone who has seen “The Real World” can attest that past seasons have been filled with booze-fueled romances, fights and plenty of late-night discussions around and in hot tubs.

But Montazaran says there’s nothing in the show that would embarrass her.

“There isn’t much I do that I wouldn’t be proud for my family to see,” she says.

“Those other types of things weren’t as prevalent in my lifestyle,” she added later. “I make sure I don’t get totally sloppy.”

She does admit to calling home after a night when she might have imbibed too much.

Since she returned from Australia, she’s moved back into her family’s Long Island home and is working on a music career.

“I was planning on singing the anthem at sporting events while trying to get an album made,” she says. “Now it’s all sort of been ruffled up, so I don’t know what to expect.”

I personally can not stand that girl. She makes the rest of us from that part of the world look bad. She has such a huge chip on her shoulder. Her voice makes my skin crawl. The higher than thou attitude has got to go. She ain’t higher than anything- Kharahhh. She’s the only thing on that show that just doesn’t fit. GET HER OUT, not Trisha.

I would hate for my 5 year old daughter to model herself after the girls on the Real World Sydney. With the exception of Parisa, the rest are plastic, hollow and embarrasing. Not only are there racist overtones to this season’s show, but they showcase the “Ugly American” mythology. It does not even begin to amount to entertainment.

parisa you are the best WOMAN mtv has to offer. i am so sorry you had to deal with the childishness of the rest of the girls. it was almost so sad that you had to laugh at them, it will be interesting to see where they are five years from now. keep your head up and know that only good things will come for you because you are a truely good person!

I think Parisa is a such a strong and eloquent woman, who has such wonderful morals and principles, unlike the other girls, who have no loyalties or personalities. I pitty them, I honestly do. How sad! They’re fake and full of hypocrisy and desperate behaviors. They will go through life as spineless, lifeless people with nothing better to do than to bash others. They are consumed with jealousy and hypocrisy and I CANNOT stand them!!

I admire Parisa so much, and I hope she knows that! She is such a strong role model, for young women, for Muslim women especially. I feel like the rest of the people in the house should get their heads out of their asses for just one freakin minute and learn a thing or two from Parisa. Although, I highly doubt it would help. You cannot sit there and continue to preach, no rather bark about how so-called “good Christians”, like Trisha, act when you practice exactly opposite of that. Enough of the bullying and hypocrisy. It’s getting old and nauseating. You can’t push someone and continue to bully and antagonize and expect them to just roll over and take it up the ass!! Excuse my language, but that’s not the way it works!

So, you know what, you go Parisa!! Show those bitches how small and insignificant they truly are. I think you’re beautiful, eloquent, classy, and so incredibly strong for putting up with all that shit! I honestly wouldn’t have been able to. So, way to go, and keep your head up high. Know that so many people stand behind you all the way. The hell with the rest of them. :)

Wow Parisa was the only cool person on the show, everyone else made me sick, no one stood up for Parisa, when they cast for a show don’t mix white trash with upstanding people like Parisa, why do people gang up on the innocent, I have the upmost respect for Parisa for keeping her cool on Tv. I knew if it was me I wouldve came after everyone in that house for not having my back. Got Love for Parisa

All I can say about Parisa is that she is the only female on the show with a good head on her shoulders. The others are just immature sluts!

Team Parisa! Parisa is not only an extremely beautiful girl (and NOT fat!), but I really respect the way she held up in the face of peer pressure from those immature brats she had to deal with–the other women on the show represent the worst of what women are. Thanks, Parisa, for showing that women (even Real World participants) can be rational, clear headed, and dignified in the face of chaos and idiocy!

Okay Tamar, I mean Parisa. Nobody in thier right mind would defend this embarrassing woman. She is a disgrace to all women of all races. Parisa is the most ulikeable reality television personality of all time and I feel sorry for whoever gets stuck in any sort of relationship with her. She lacks a backbone and puts too much stock in her “poor me” perspective on life.

It was about time trisha left , she was not open to understand anyone who was not like her. Parisa made the right choice! Kellyanne showed just how immature she truly is by spitting on the window. I hope Parisa has a better stay now. However, Parisa needs to stop being the chaser of guys and let them come to her:)

I have watched every real world season since it began back in the day. This is the first time I felt compelled to comment on any of cast mates. Parisa is a person of strong morals, values and character. She stayed strong while enduring being the outcast for standing up for herself. I would love to meet her and tell her that she is the only person I had admired on the show usually filled with young people who have a lot of growing up to do. She was the most mature and intelligent cast member to date.

i dont know how you put up with trisha, she is so shallow. she thinks she is special and cute and she is so NOT either of those things. she is judgemental and discusting. how does she have any friends, i just dont know. i would be so ashamed if that was my daughter. and she calls herself a christian???

Parisa rocks. Just goes to show, sometimes you may be outnumbered, but you gotta have faith in yourself and stay strong.
I enjoyed watching her make herself look respectable for the rest of the world, while some of the girls on the show really embarassed themselves. I can’t believe how ignorant and unaware they were of their embodied prejudices they displayed. KellyAnne was someone I had my hopes on, but she was really a dissapointment.

Parisa is a smart cookie, and I’m glad she didn’t let any of them shake her foundation. That’s a strong woman!

Oh, and Isaac was also a person I can respect from the show. Good guy.

parisa is the kind of person girls should look up to. would you rather your daughter be like her or the other girls? what kind of world are those other girls living in? they justified their hate for parisa because they were “team trisha”, then when took a minute to actually think like a normal person, they were like, oh yeah, trisha is stupid, hey let’s like parisa. oh, ok, why did we not like her again? they’re dumb. hey did u hear those girls are gonna be on the next survivor series?
