Gauntlet 3 - Ep. 1 Recap
Well, they were right. If the first episode is any indication, The Gauntlet 3 is about to go down as the craziest challenge of them all.
And the hookups! THE HOOKUPS! On the first night! Let’s count them:
- Evelyn & Brooke (yup, Brooke is a lesbian now…)
- Brad & Tori
- Johnny & Casey
- Paula & Derek
- Paula & Adam
- Tyler & Ryan
- Frank & Jillian
The Gauntlet 3 has a twist - instead of each team banking cash throughout the course of the challenge and leaving with something, this time it’s all or nothing. The team that wins the final challenge gets the grand prize of $300,000. Not too shabby.
The first challenge is a good, old-fashioned tug-of-war. Though it didn’t happen quite as quickly as they’d initially hoped, the veterans pulled it out in the end. The prize? Winner gets the luxurious accomodations. The losing team? Well… they’ll have to get used to sleeping on bunk beds IN THE SAME ROOM.
The first big challenge (as most RW/RR Challenges go) was really complicated, kind of as if the producers had made it up as they went… In what basically amounts to a mud wrestling version of musical chairs, the teams duke it out to see who’s headed for the gauntlet. After putting up a good fight, the male veterans won the initial round. Tori and Robin duke it out for the girls… and Tori takes the win. This (somehow) results to some sort of tie. Then it’s up to Derek and CT to determine the endgame. And CT, animal as usual, brings it home for the Veterans.
The Veterans decide to throw Nehemiah into the gauntlet and vote to protect Ryan, preventing his team from throwing him in to face Nehemiah. The Rookies meet to decide who they’re putting in, allowing Nehemiah to choose who he wants to compete against. He picks Alex.
Seventeen minutes into the gauntlet, another weird twist on tug of war, Alex gives up and Nehemiah wins, sending Alex home.
After a long hard day of competion, the obvious activity of choice is to get completely hammered. RW/RR kids can compete with the best of them, but they can also hold their own when it comes to binge drinking. Way to go, gang. Yay aspirations!
Nothing could cap off the evening like a good fight between CT and Coral, upsetting Diem in the process.
