MTV Finally Gives Us REAL High School Kids on “The Paper”
The words “high school newspaper editor-in-chief” likely make you think “Andrea Zuckerman” and then you’re off and running with all kinds of Beverly Hills, 90210 references - rich kids and The Peach Pit and Dylan McKay and Steve Sanders driving a cheesy Porsche and chants of “Donna Martin graduates.” All that is good and fine, but c’mon - high school is one helluva lot different than any Aaron Spelling production.
High school reality has been tackled before on Laguna Beach, but you and I both know that it’s about as real as The Hills. Finally, MTV is going to show us real high school kids doing real high school things on the new show The Paper - homework, going to class, hanging out after school, working part-time jobs, gossiping with friends, and, as the title suggests, working for the school paper. The new show centers around the busy high school newspaper staff at Cypress Bay High School in Weston, Florida and the four students vying for the position of Editor-in-Chief of The Circuit.
I’m excited to see reality TV get a little more real. Check out the clip below:
The show premieres Monday, April 14th at 10:30 PM ET/PT. But fans can check out the new show a week early - a free download of the first available as a Download-To-Own at iTunes Store, Amazon Unbox, Xbox Live Marketplace and BitTorrent on April 7th.
