Rock the Cradle Shockers!!

Rock the Cradle Cast

Tonight was full of the unexpected as two of my favorite contestants on Rock the Cradle were eliminated.

Lara Johnston, who has struggled with the judges week after week while trying to find her footing in the competition, was the first to go.  Unfortunately, this was after she pulled off her best performance yet to Fergie’s “Big Girls Don’t Cry.”  That big, big voice coming out of that small, small person was always fun to watch.

Lucy Walsh, a definite fan favorite for weeks, was put up next to her best friend left in the competition, Jesse Snider, a fate that neither or them wanted to see happen.  And it was Lucy who was let go.

Chloe Lattanzi, Crosby Loggins and Jesse Snider remain the final three to face off in the show’s finale.  Who will you vote to be the winner of Rock the Cradle?

Who should win "Rock the Cradle?"

The Real World Hollywood: Ep. 3

Joey & Brianna

First of all, seriously, if I have to watch Brianna play with her ridiculous tongue ring (really - is it 1999 again?) one more time, I am going to throw up all over my keyboard.

Second, I feel like I just watched an hour long after school special.

Drug use? Check. Depression? Check. Addiction? Check. Talks of suicide? Check. Low self-esteem? Check.

I don’t want to make light of Joey’s tearful admission that he hates life and wishes he was dead. Because, seriously, that was scary and sad and worrisome. And since we’re on the topic of Joey’s emotional breakdown, wasn’t it a tad insensitive and irresponsible of his roommates to continue to encourage him to drink even after he told them he’d had problems with alcohol in the past? So Joey gets really drunk and in a really dark place. And then Brianna gets annoyed with him because she wanted to share her addiction stories, but he was too messed up to even notice.

So did the producers intentionally seek out the most dysfunctional twentysomethings for this go-round?

Joey opened up further on the MTV Remote Control blog, asking people not to make judgements until they see the rest of the season. He would like viewers to “witness the evolution of a man with addiction and problems. And while you’re watching, ask yourselves this: Are you perfect? Do you not have problems?” I’d say that’s a pretty reasonable request.

Meanwhile, Kim and Dave have been flirting up a storm (rather cutely, I must say), though Kim vehemently denies that she wants more than just some friends with benefits action and Dave says the same thing on camera, though his behavior suggests otherwise. I foresee some drama down the road when one of them meets someone they deem more attractive/interesting.

And then there’s Greg. Seriously, is everyone who voted for him to be the 7th cast member kicking themselves for making that decision? He is definitely in the running for the most bizarre Real Worlder ever.

With all of the manufactured conflict and drama of this season so far, I have to admit it’s nice to see that the producers are actually tackling real issues that young people face again. Some of their casting choices seem a bit extreme, but watching this group battle real demons makes more of an impact than the usual crop of overly-attractive kids and their debauchery.

So tell me, what do YOU think about The Real World Hollywood?

Heidi Speaks out About the Death of her Brother

In a genuinely heart wrenching interview with Access Hollywood, Heidi Montag discussed the accidental and tragic death of her step-brother. I have to admit, I might have even shed a wee little tear.

Of course, she didn’t hesitate to throw a nice little dig at Lauren Conrad in at the end…

Two Men Out on “Rock the Cradle”

The competition is heating it up on the Celebu-spawn, American Idol-esque MTV hit Rock the Cradle.  In week four, not one, but TWO contestants were shown the door and, unfortunately, neither was Chloe Lattanzi.

Lara Johnston, has the chops to take on a powerful song like “Lady Marmalade,” but she still seems a bit shocked to be standing up there on that stage.  Crosby Loggins proved that he’s a strong contender and Lucy Walsh and Jesse Blaze Snider are both in it to win it.

So who was given the axe? Lil’ B. Sure and Landon Brown were both eliminated from the show, leaving only five contestants left to duke it out.

Who do you think should be the next to go?

Heidi & Spencer Swear Lauren Has a Sex Tape

SpeidiThe rumor that Lauren Conrad and then-beau Jason Wahler have a sex tape has been swirling around the internets for over a year.  Even though The Hills star has vehemently denied the tape’s existence, her former best friend, Heidi Montag, and her occasional fiancee, Spencer Pratt, insist the tape is real.

The couple will appear on this Tuesday’s episode of  The Tyra Banks Show.  On the show, Spencer gets bold: “I know for 100% fact it did exist – 1000%!”

When Tyra asks if he had ever seen the tape, Spencer replies, “I would never watch that!  I would rather throw up… but I know for a fact, and I would take a lie detector test.”

Heidi calls Lauren and Jason out on the show as well, stating that the tape is “not a rumor. From what I have heard from confirmed sources… her ex-boyfriend was going around trying to sell it.”

But when probed for more details, Heidi backs down and says she’s not “allowed to elaborate.”

Hmmm… something stinks.  And I can’t decide who is trying to cover their tracks more - Lauren or her sworn enemies…

The bottom line, however, is that even if there is a sex tape, it’s no one’s business but Lauren and Jason’s.  I cannot wait until this topic dies for GOOD.

Nobody Wants to Be Paris’ BFF After All

Paris & Benji The search to find Paris Hilton’s new best friend for an upcoming MTV reality show seems to have hit a rough patch.

According to reports, only 40-50 people even showed up for the New York City casting call and even the media was turned away.  Paris, in a lame attempt at damage control, posted to MySpace saying that there aren’t even open calls for the show and insisting that the process is very exclusive and by invitation only. So not hot.
