It’s almost that time, yet again, for The Hills to take a bit of a break (only this time we have The City to tide us over until it returns again!).  MTV has a bunch of programming to send the show off in style:

On Monday, December 15th at 10pm ET/PT, fans can watch a highly anticipated episode as Spencer and Heidi ignore the concerns of their families and runaway to Mexico to elope. Meanwhile, Whitney takes a chance at a dream job in New York City and says goodbye to Lauren and her life in Los Angeles.

The line-up for the live season finale on Monday, December 2nd is as follows:

“The Hills Finale Live From NYC” Pre-Show − 8:00 PM ET/PT

Hosted by MTV News Tim Kash, fans will get the inside scoop on the cast as they walk down the red carpet and catch up on the latest drama as we re-air the last three episodes.

“The Hills” Season Finale − 10:00 PM ET/PT

When Lauren and Heidi have a run-in, they put their feud aside and remember why they used to be friends. Spencer and Heidi deal with the fallout of their elopement when Heidi’s mother comes to town, and Justin shocks Audrina when he whisks her away to Palm Springs for his own surprise.

“The Hills” Live After Show − 10:30 PM ET/PT

The star-studded night continues as The Pussycat Dolls will give an unforgettable performance of “I Hate This Part.” Also on hand will be popular “After Show” hosts Jessi Cruickshank and Dan Levy to get reactions from the cast immediately following the season finale and fans will have the opportunity to ask all the probing questions on everyone’s minds.

I absolutely adore Whitney.  She’s one of the few girls on The Hills who actually appears sane.

We’ve speculated before and now E! is reporting that it’s true - a Hills spinoff starring Whitney Port has officially been picked up by MTV.

A source has said the show will begin filming immediately and that MTV only picked the show up within the past few weeks.

As rumored, the new show will follow Whitney’s adventures in NYC and her new job working for fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg.  The series is set to air in early 2009.

If Whitney leaves, will there be a replacement for her on The Hills?  We’re willing to put our money on Lo Bosworth…
